Greetings all:

I am new to linux and having trouble getting 9.2 Professional to 'do the right thing' with my 1394 connected camera. Is anyone else using ths configuration?
(Shuttle SN41 with 1394 camera)

The configuration works fiine with XP. The adapter is in the list of devices recognized on the system. I don't see any reference to the RTL8801 however (this chip plays some role in the 1394 stream). I seem to remember reading that the the SN41 board does not use the 1394 interface built in to the Nvidia chipset but the RTL8801 - can't find the reference now.

I have installed several apps that would use the 1394 ifc. if it was working. I have downloaded and installed the drivers I could find at Nvidia. None were in evidence at Shuttle. Basically, it makes no difference if the camera is connected, on or off, camera or vtr mode.

Any pointers on how to check the stuff in the middle?

I have spent a week trying to solve this problem with no progress.
