Hi. Any one had this problem I have three computers, two desktops one laptop have always run Suse from 10.? have run 11.3 since release with no problems, as they say out of the box. Always direct or torrent download and burn image. 11.4 works fine on laptop straight update. Desktops both install and auto configure but the monitor display is broken into columns and unreadable, tried different monitors Sony DGM but only crap on the screen? Tried update in first instance then new install same problem, also when rebooting some times get cant find OS? Have reloaded 11.3 on both machines and they work fine? So what is crackalackin??

The option Installation gives you several options .
I think pressing F4 give you that options , but it is mention on the screen
About Using 1 )VGA 2) Resolution 3) Text mode and so on .
Try the TEXT Mode and see if comes with warnings or Errors
Thank you for that I have tried what you suggested but can find no error reports. The effect is much the same as I have found with SUSE running on machines with wide screen monitors when you try to use the pop outs to enlarge video to full screen, so I don’t bother as far as I can make out it is the refresh rates of wide scree monitors. It is not a big problem as the machines are mainly used for business and not pleasure. Thanks again.
I had such problem. I installed ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop and my display didnt work good and it was like its raining on my display. After that i tried to install ubuntu 10.04 but i had same problem. I did lots of thing but the problem didnt solved.
so I installed anaother distribution
if its possible for you its better to install another distribution because solving this problems is almost impossible.
I tried installing 11.4 from an iso download. Had the same problem with display breaking into horizontal and vertical bars when the installer reached the "Configure" step. I let my second install run until there was no change in screen activity. Fortunately, I was able to then boot to safe mode and install the latest updates, repositories and the latest Nvidia drivers. That cured the display problem, although I am still chasing screen breakups when viewing videos in FireFox.

That is good news I will try that my self, as for the flickering screen when watching vidio in FF I had the same problem also with BBC news live stream and some flash player displays on one of my desktops with a wide screen, even in Suse 11.3. I think it is down to refresh rates of the monitor and I am still trying to cure it. I had to put WIN 7 on one machine but dont think that is any better been working two weeks on no sound device?
