A friend has informed me post my new install of 10.2(using Linux software raid) that 10.2 supports my chip set SATA RAID while 10.1 did not, is this true? Thought it was a kernel thing.. If any one knows, much appreciated.
SUSE 10.1 and 2.6 Kernel did not support these types of embedded RAID controlers, the manufactures do not provide *nix drivers, this is not a new issue.
I used with 10.1 as I am with 10.2 "Linux software raid" apposed to hardware embedded that exists on many system boards.
I would like to know if anyone has setup a system board embedded hardware(bios) base array that this revision of Linux recognizes. Please only respond is you have a working knowledge of software and hardware arrays.
Recent revisions to the kernel may be now including drivers for these types of arrays, I guess thats the question I am looking to have answered. In other words I knew it didnt work when 10.1 was released, tried it, lots of people discussed in forums that it didn't work, it was known not to work, I assumed it still didn't work that is why I set up my new install of 10.2 as i did before with Linux software RAID similar to the config in my signature.
