[SuSE 9.1] nForce 2 drivers -> nvmixer

I am having some problems getting the nvidia drivers for the nForce 2 chipset to work properly. The ethernetchip onboard I don't use, so no problems there. But the sound, it's not working good. The drivers install fine (like building the kernel modules etc). First, I look whether there is an entry for "forcedeth", "snd_instel8x0", "nvaudio" or "i810_audio". Then I edit modprobe.conf in /etc and ADD these lines (they are already there, but somewhat different and commented out):
Code:
alias eth0 nvnet
alias sound-card-0 nvsound
Then I reboot, and start nvmixer from a console.

It gives me these "problems":

I can't setup the speakers.
Information is not displayed. (in Fedora Core 2, it did)
Volume cannot be adjusted.

When I do lsmod, the driver snd_intel8x0 driver is there... That module does not have any entries in modprobe.conf, so why is is started? I don't need that module, because the system must use the nvsound module. (nvsound is loaded (lsmod)) Any help on this?

Bumping the thread!

I guess it's OK to bump this one now...

Maybe SuSE has any .rpms for nForce2 drivers?

rehi 4hp,

look at nvidias page http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_nforce_1.0-0283 for information. There is an nvidia driver.

Hope it helps!

Don't know if my post will help you or not. I have SuSE 9.2 but I got sound up and running using only the nVIDIA drivers see thread here:
