suse91, subfs=no, mount issues

I'm using suse 9.1 but don't like subfs, so I got rid of it and now mount things manually.
Some small questions:

1) as soon as I put in a cd, konqueror starts up and tries to open 'file:/media/cdrecorder/'. Of course it fails because I didn't have time to mount the cd! How can I prevent konqueror from starting automatically?

2) When I have an audio cd inserted and press the (physical) eject button, the tray opens but closes immediately and I don't have no time to take it out. Any idea why?

3) I've a pendrive with a vfat file system and when I copy files to it, the permissions are changed. My files are usually -rw------- and after copying they become -rwx------. I'm using the cp command in bash. How to preserve the original permissions?

I think the first two problem can be solved in suseplugger. Right-click the tray icon that looks like a PCI card and select 'Configure'. De-activate 'Active Polling' and autostart option for the CD drive.

Your third problem might be a little more complicated. Since FAT does not 'understand' Linux permissions, the whole drive uses one setting that is set with the umask parameter in /etc/fstab. You cannot preserve Linux permission on that drive, but you can adjust umask to give only rw instead of rwx. The value set with umask is substracted from the default permissions (777). So if you set umask=177, you should get -rw------- for all your files.
