i tried root and it didn't work, i tried many things and none worked...
so i don't know what else to try...
it didn't give me the option to choose a login or password when i was installing it...
hmmm, i can't remember seeing that...
can i reinstall suse over the one i have now??
i'm sure i can i just want to be sure...

the dvd trick worked...
i have a cdr 1 dvd disc 2 and cdr disc 3 and so on so that turned out nice...
I'm happy that you're succeded on DVD trick, but reinstall is in order. And while installing watch for prompts.

Follow the same pattern and recalibrate sound devices.
If negative afterwards, then open KDE Control Centre=>Sound and multimedia
Try selecting different sound systems starting from autodetect and finishing with ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture)
Still nothing?
Open Kmix and see if sound in not Muted
Still no?
then in KDE Control Centre select sound and multimedia and choose ALSA (advenced linux sound architecture)
open console
$su -
$alsamixer
Configure bars with arrows, enable or disable service with "m" key.
When done ESC
#alsactl store
If you have 5.1 speaker system, be sure that LFE channels bars are all way down and [off]. LFE channel is to generate 5.1 emulation matrix on 4 speaker systems.
P.S. KEEP IN MIND THAT SOUND SYSTEM WON'T WORK AFTER THAT PROCEDURE. REBOOT NEEDED!
