Suse 10 login fails after short time

Folks,
I have recently installed Suse 10 and created a user account. The OS would allow me to login as user until recently, when it suddenly failed. I created additional user accounts and was then able to login. Now those accounts fail as well. I can login as root to the YAST module for users, have tried changing their passwords, but no success in then being allowed to login. What can I do to address these problems?

What error do you get? Have you tried deleting the .kde folder?

I suggest you also check in Yast/Security&Users if you have not (accidentally, unwittingly) set user PWs to expire periodically.
