this is a problem that me and several other people have been having. its really easy to fix.
1)goto the nvidia web site, go to the driver page and download the "NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7174-pkg1.run" file.
2)hit ctrl+alt+F1 and type "init 3", then go to where you downloaded the nvidia file and type "./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-7174-pkg1.run -q".
3)after everything is finished type "sax2 -m 0=nvidia" (0=zero)
4)type "init 5" and everything should work.
5)as root or su'ed open up "/etc/udev/static_devices.txt" and add the following to the bottom:
#
nvidia0 c 195 0 666
nvidia1 c 195 1 666
nvidia2 c 195 2 666
nvidia3 c 195 3 666
nvidia4 c 195 4 666
nvidia5 c 195 5 666
nvidia6 c 195 6 666
nvidia7 c 195 7 666
nvidiactl c 195 255 666
6)everything should be done and should have opengl and everything working perfect.
all of this information can be found on the nvidia web site.
