ssh fails
When I try to ssh from any user to a specific server it says "Connection to server closed by remote host."
"Connection to server closed." the messages file gives me the following "Aug 1 13:09:30 server sshd[6847]: Accepted keyboard-interactive/pam for user from ipaddress port 41537 ssh2" but when I try to sftp everything works fine |
They might have restricted the login to only allow sftp (or sftp/scp). Check out the user's entry in /etc/passwd to see what shell and home directory are specified. Also you might need to check sshd_config to see if it has been restricted.

I checked all that
the password file says /bin/bash for all the users and the sshd_config is as follows: most of it is pounded out

First verify /bin/bash is in fact the bash shell and not a symbolic link to something else like sftp-server.
Second verify /usr/lib/ssh/sftp-server exists. If not change the subsystem line to point to the correct location of sftp-server. |
