Unhappy Share virtual terminal (Screen) with Suse

Sharing a virtual terminal with screen should be an easy process. You should just initiate a screen session
screen -S share

then
CTRL-A
:multiuser on

CTRL-A
:acladd johndoe

Then the user you allowed should be able to

screen -x share

to connect to your session. SUSE has done something to prevent this. I've searched around, and found several pages saying to do the following:

chmod u+s $ /usr/bin/screen
and
chmod 755 /var/run/screen

Suse however has no /var/run/screen directory. There is a /var/run/uscreen directory, that holds screen sessions, so I did try the chmod on that folder, but still no luck.

Can anyone get this working?

thanks.
