it asked me to reboot after update and then root was not able to login.the login greeter will just blink and comeback to login.
tried booting in runlebel 2 and root login is possible. and in user login su privilage is working alright.
root login in kde or any x is prevented..
i found three kdmrc files and found they r still saying rootlogin=true
somewhere else the root x login is prevented now.
the 2 chess coin icons in the login greeter the coin icon for root is replaced by a man thowing up his hands!!

The nagging is there for a reason. Daily tasks should not be performed as root user. You only need the root user account to configure stuff, upgrade packages, tasks like that. If you need to perform tasks often, consider running them with sudo. If you're not convinced check your system logs error messages for clues.

thre r tgree kdmrc files in suse installation.
all of them still say rootlogin=true
are thr quotation markd necessary?
i have not seen those in any kdmrc files in other distros

yes yes i know the importance of root login and dangers one can get the ststem into with root logins.
in the initial install root login is enabled and later only it goes off.
all distros are installed with root login possible with kde and remain so here is something going on after updating and installing other packages.
i am a gentoo expienced user .
fedora slack gentoo knoppix are the other distros i have installed in my computer.
without root login u cannot even create a folder in root with graphic interface. which we r all used to.
i want that privilage to use kde with root login.
if u can tell me where to look at i can do that.
thanks for the replies.

the problem was solved as follows
ny trial and error method.
anyway iwas ready to reinstall 5th time
so i moved the /root /mnt and created new /root
deleted the ramaswamy home directory
deletd the user ramaswamy
added another user
noe i find that all 2 new users and root can login to kde.
the xauth and .kde get corrupted or some illegal operation saving must be spoiling the files in home folders.
i was able to reproduce the same faults and remedies .
only we have to be prepared to delete the respedtive home folders at any time.
so keep all data in different folder in /home.
so if something happens like this data wont be lost.
mind that all these troubles was with kde login only.
console login was ok for root and user.
use yast to add remove user.
may be this helps someone in distress.
