Problem with foreign keys on a British layout keyboard

Hi folks

Okay basically it simply won't work, and I can't figure out how to fix it despite looking everywhere in YaST, SaX2, Personal Settings, and just about everywhere else.

I am using a British layout keyboard, and so when I do E + Alt Gr, I should get é, but instead I simply get e. And when I do i + Alt Gr, I should get a Spanish sort of i, but instead I get ↓.

Could anyone help ?

Thanks

PS: I'm using SUSE Linux 10.1 by the way. I've also searched these forums yet can't find anything either.

hi there,
did you check the xorg.conf file?
"deadkeys" could be causing this effect.
