I need to make some changes to my inet1 file in suse 9.1 but I have absolutely no idea where the config file is located. I have tried to search for it but it has turned up nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Is there anyway that I can create this file? I have tried configuring it with yast, but it won't work. Basically, what I need it to do is keep the exact setting that I have for my connection as they are, not restarting on boot.
Well here is what I am trying to do. I had the DSL modem problem where I could only ping sites but I can fix it now, and I want to know how to keep the config that I edit after restart. Everytime I log into Linux I have to pico the /etc/resolv.conf and edit one of the nameservers to make it work, but everytime I restart I have to do it. I read a post that listed the inet1 file as having the config that I could put -R tags on to make it stay the way I make it. Any idea how to do this in Suse?
If you start YaST, go into Network Devices, then click on DSL, does it detect a DSL device? If so, you should be able to configure name servers from there in one of the configure options. If not, click on Network card and do the same. I do not have a DSL device connected directly to any of my machines, so I can't walk you through that. But if you have a network card detected, the steps to get to name service are;
YaST
"logon"
Network Devices
Network Card
Configure
Host Name and Name Server
Enter Name Server IP's
Uncheck update via DHCP (if you want to keep them static)
Done
Well thank you this worked wonders. I went into the network card config and from there just set it so that it was not update. And everything worked like a charm. Thank you for all of your help.
