Hibernate in kdm without password.

Hello everyone.

I installed OpenSUSE 10.3 few days ago to a Acer Aspire 3003LC laptop.
Everything is working fine, but if I try to hibernate the computer from the login manager (kdm) it asks me for root password. Hibernating when a user is logged in works fine and without password.
I first thought this is some kind of permission problem, so I tried to set up /usr/sbin/pm-hibernate suid, but I'm actually not sure how the KDM hibernates the machine.

The question: Is it possible to remove the query asking for root password when hibernating in KDM, so the computer would hibernate without password?

Thanks.

I doubt it. Generally, you need to be root to start kdm from a command line. So, I'm guessing that you would need root privileges to suspend and restart kdm. You could try setting kdm suid but I would imagine that would create security issues and I'm not sure it would work anyway.

Also, when you get to the kdm screen, no user is logged in. The init scripts have all been run with root privileges to get you that far. To run any command from there, there has to be a user logged in to actually run any command. That indicates to me that you would need to login as some user before running any suspend/hibernate command which would require a login password be given.
