Help-Installing a 945GM Intel Graphics Driver on Opensuse 10.2

Hi,

I am now running an OpenSuse 10.2 on my HP NX7400 Laptop. In Yast->Hardware it does show my graphics card as Intel 945GM chipset (which is the graphics chipset in my laptop). But whenever i play videos fullscreen, it lags a lil or rather..the video doesnt smoothly flow... and even while running ...firefox, and scrolling up and down, i can feel a small lag or disturbance. Therefore i came to a conclusion that i need to install a driver for my VGA other that the one that came along with the Kernel. I found the driver in

http://intellinuxgraphics.org/download.html

but here they have only given the git repository address. I installed GIT and even got the files from git using the command mentioned in the site. But i have no idea, how to install them, where they are, basically...what do i do next?

I have my Suse runnin perfect...except for this small issue (and wireless...which ill do later )...would really appreciate it ..if someone could offer me a solution. and oh yes!...im a

thnx

shaneez

I have the same grpahics card in my laptop and it was installed with 3D enabled as default? In fact the very reason i started using suse was suse was the only distro intel wrote drivers for. As far as i was aware suses default 945GM driver is the only driver available?

Are you sure these problems aren't caused by somthing else? Not having your graphics drivers installed shouldn't lag ur system.

As for performance for me i have xgl installed (spinning cube and wobbly menus) and it works perfect with that card and default driver

I think in the Control Panel, somewhere there is a checkbox to turn on 3D acceleration.
Might be worth to find that checkbox.

In fact..yes i checked the drivers and suse does have the driver and it detects the card perfectly. And i have enabled 3D and even i use wobbly menus and stuff! It all works fine, but i still dont know what the reason is for my videos and firefox lagging. It seemed like a driver problem, but it doesnt look like that, If it was a video codec problem, then why is firefox also acting cranky? and..yes.. i also have xgl installed. I just wish, I could figure t his out!!!

thnx!

XGL doesn't do much so it's it doesn't tell us much about performance.
You need to run some FPS but don't even bother, 945 is for internet surfing and email.

well actually it isn't that bad pretty good for a cheap laptop graphics card. I have dual boot and in windows its good enough to run GTA San Andreas on max settings. But yeah it isn't exactly a gaming card.
