Dependency problems with KDE:KDE4

System: openSUSE 10.3 x86_64
Kernel: 2.6.22.13-0.3 (yay for patched stuff and long numbers)

I've done the requisite searching and have yet to find anything even close to the dependency problem I'm encountering. I was looking to install KDE 4.0 to replace the preview that was at 3.9x.

I encountered a dependency problem and so I removed all of 3.9x. This did not change or solve the problem.

#### YaST2 conflicts list - generated 2008-01-12 00:13:13 ####

kdebase4-runtime cannot be installed due to missing dependencies
There are no installable providers of libImath.so.6()(64bit) for kdebase4-runtime-4.0-3.1.x86_64[KDE:KDE4]
=== kdebase4-runtime-4.0-3.1.x86_64[KDE:KDE4] ===
kdebase4-runtime-4.0-3.1.x86_64[KDE:KDE4] will be installed by the user.
glibc-2.6.1-18.3.x86_64 is needed by kdebase4-runtime-4.0-3.1.x86_64[KDE:KDE4] (libc.so.6()(64bit))
perl-base-5.8.8-76.2.x86_64 is needed by kdebase4-runtime-4.0-3.1.x86_64[KDE:KDE4] (/usr/bin/perl)
38 more...
Conflict Resolution:
( ) do not install kdebase4-runtime
(x) Ignore this requirement just here

#### YaST2 conflicts list END ###

Normally I seem to be able to understand these things, but right now I can't even follow what's really missing. If I ignore the problem with libImath.so (which I can't seem to find anywhere btw) a new lib is shown as missing, and if I ignore that one, another and so on.

I have had this problem since before the hardware failure, so I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to resolve this as it's quite obvious that others have installed 4.0 by just a glance at Planet SUSE.

Thanks for your time.

hehe, I just noticed that I copied the error text from several days ago. I really have been trying to solve it myself.

After poking around a little more I have discovered that my biggest problem was that I was searching for 'lib *L* math' not 'lib *i* math'.

* Imath implements 2D and 3D vectors, 3x3 and 4x4 matrices,
quaternions and other useful 2D and 3D math functions.

I added the following repo and attempted to install OpenEXR.
http://download.opensuse.org/reposit.../openSUSE_10.3

This started a new round a dependency problems, specifically that KDE 4.0 is listed as requiring libIlmImf.so.6 while KDE 3.5.7 requires libIlmImf.so.4.
