/etc/samba/smb.conf is a configuration file used by the samba server for Linux, but has nothing to do with mounting a samba server from Linux. To create an automount for Linux, either add an entry to /etc/fstab (EX: //<server>/<share> /mnt/<mountpoint> smb user,auto,rw,<other mount options>), or use
autofs4 scripts to create an on-demand automount entry.
