Authentication opensuse against windows AD

I have two installations of opensuse. One with KDE and one with Gnome. Both are freshly installed.
During install I entered the same domain information of my AD. The KDE installation accepts the AD user but Gnome just doesn't want to play.
With KDE you can specify the domain with Gnome login I tried domain\user and about all variations I could think of but no go..

Any Clues?
