x-server

Hi I just installed the newest version of sun solaris but I got an error message when the system loads.

It says: starting desktop login on display
then the screen on the monitor flickers and after a while i get a message saying

" The X-server can not be started on display"

how can I make it to work ???

thank you

It looks like you can manually configure your graphics card with kdmconfig as explained here.

http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/805...03u2hro?a=view

Otherwise maby your graphics card is not supported?? You can install x

I am afraid I have never used/know anything about it... good luck

mouse

Thank you for getting me on the right track
I run kdmconfig and when I run test it said
dev/kdmouse/dev/kdmouse: no such file or directory.
so i quess mouse is a culprit.
However, I am not sure why I would get such error because i have generic PS/2 mouse and it should work fine.

any ideas???

Hi prekursor, again just going on linux stuff I guess Solaris is SORT of similar... but don´t really have any idea.

Is there somthing in the setup that lets you choose your mouse?? and its device??

Maby otherwise assuming its a wheel mouse you could just give this a go....

Sorry I am just going on guesses although I have been thinking of downloading Solaris just to see what its all about ;)

Prekursor, you're the second one in a raw experiencing a problem with a PS/2 wheel mouse and last beta release of Solaris 10 in this forum.
If Jürgen Keil's driver doesn't help, try with an USB mouse, with which no problems have been reported.
