Question Why does Solaris still use inetd?

Why does Solaris 10 still use inetd? Will they ever switch to xinetd?

i think it's just that if it's not broke, don't fix it. Afaik Debian still uses inted too (or is it slack??) Xinetd doesn't really seem to provide that much more, other than a desire to include other files and spread it all out.

The latest release I used uses inetd... or it's at least in the /etc directory. Is SMF a gui program?

There is indeed a file named "inetd.conf" in /etc, but I suggest you to read it.

At least Debian Woody (the previous stable release used inetd. I am almost certain that the present stable release (Sarge) also uses inetd.
