Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
I'm a new user to Solaris (read: I've spent a few days on Google and have the Solaris 10 ISO). It seems there's a lot of conflicting information out there about Solaris hardware compatibility. The HCL on Sun's site leaves much to be desired in terms of searchability, so I'm hoping somebody here can tell me if I need to be extremely concerned.
I'm looking to start my first Solaris project as a fileserver. More specifically I'm using it as a ZFS fileserver to host data over SMB. Maybe some NFS in the future. Not the most resource intensive task, but this server is going to get hit a lot, and be streaming a lot of video to many sources, so I don't want to under power myself. I'm assuming that an AMD Athlon X2 with 1GB of RAM should be more than enough, is this correct?
Anyway, here's the boards I'm considering - anyone care to give a bit of feedback? Thanks, and sorry if this was too wordy.
