Question web authentification using /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow

I would like to make a login web-page using /etc/passwd|shadow for authentification...

Someone can help to make that with Perl?

Thanxx

I wouldn't really advise in using your actual passwd file. Why not just use the basic functions of setting up a .htpasswd file and htaccess with Apache, etc?

In fact, I use Helios Ethershare (for disk sharing with Macintosh).
When I create a Helios user, it also add an entry in /etc/passwd|shadow.
I would like to use those files to have the same login and password...

I also do not recommend using a file with sensitive data such as /etc/passwd for validation. It is a potential security hole and it will probably lead to abuse

Create your htpasswd file to be used with apache and just create the same users and passwords for that file, etc.

Possibly just write a script when adding a user to also add them to the htpasswd file... and so on.. etc.
