trouble with C++ linking

Hello,
I am trying to compile a little C++ but am getting linking errors.
I am using gcc version 3.4.2
on
SunOS XXXX 5.8 Generic_108528-20 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-250

anyone know what libs I should link with?
Are there C++ libs on solaris 8?

i wrote using sun studio on x86 at home and it's fine.
it's only simple stuff, nothing architecture specific.
