The "Enter Password to Unlock Desktop" disappears after 4 seconds?
 

Hello again --

New problem...

Everytime I LOCK my worstation I have the black-backround with the message "Enter Password to unlock Desktop" or something and then after about 4 seconds, it disappears. Why? What settings do I need to have in order for it to stay there?

I NEED to have the black-backround WITH NO DESKTOP icons showing or anything else. Just the black-backround or blank screen in other words...with that "Enter Password to Unlock Desktop". I need that prompt to stay there ALL THE TIME....without disappearing. Because it disappears after 4 seconds and when I lock the desktop and have ONLY a blank black screen without that "Enter Password to unlock desktop" does not look professional.

Now...Somebody else on a different forum, told me to disable the screensaver which I did but that window stayed without disappearing but that showed my entire desktop in the backround with all my icons and everything and the mouse pointer changed to a pad-lock. I dont want that... I just want the black-backround with the "Enter password to Unlock Desktop" to stay there all the time when Im away from the PC. How can I do that? It goes away after 4 seconds....

Im using Solaris 10.

You can't with the CDE built-in screen-saver, as this feature is hardcoded, not settable, neither open-sourced.

I myself could not figure out a way unless recompile some files. I do have an idea.
Grab of a screenshot of the screenlock. Then using the screensaver Slideshow have the screenshot image in directory of its own and let it run. Now when it times out the screensaver will show the same screenshot for the rest of the time.

You can use the Banner and scroll text across the screen.

Any solution will defeat the purpose of a screen saver, which is to save the screen device by avoiding displaying the same image for an unnecessary long period of time.
Furthermore, a properly configured screen saver should also turn off the screen not only to save the screen but energy too.
