Tape drive problem
Dear All ,
i am new user for manual backup as i was using veritas netbackup program for doing backups .
but now i am facing a problem that i need to restore some files on DLT tapes manually , using command line .
as this is new for me , i would really adore if anyone can help me .
i have 2 quiestions :
first : i have 1 cartridge that has been reused several times , so it have more than 1 backup files , i really need to know how many backup files are on it so i can use the { s } option in ufsrestore to indicate the one i need .
second : one of my filesystems are was really big , so it used 2 tapes for backp , i want to get just few files from it , i used the ufsrestore -if /dev/rmt/0 for interactive restore but now i am confused and want be sure about two things :
1) when i use ( ufsrestore > ls ) command does it show the whole files on both tapes , or it just list the files on this volume only ???
2) it also ask me ( Specify next volume #: ) what that part mean ?
is it asking of how many volumes i have or it need the current tape volume numver ??
please if anyone have a clue , i will be so glad for your help .
thanks alot .
