Syslog / Solaris 10

Im trying to write my logs in Solaris 10 x86 to a named pipe.
But no longs are passed to the pipe. Ive tested the syslog using files and the logs are written without any issues. It is just the pipe that the logs arent passed through (???)

Heres the relevant sample of my syslog
Code:
*.debug |/etc/syslog.pipes/syslog.pipe
*.debug /etc/syslog.pipes/syslog.txt
Can anyone shed some light onto this ?

I don't see that syntax documented in Solaris syslog.conf manual so I would conclude it's not supported.

Looks like you are right, seems strange that Solaris doesnt support the use of named pipes in syslog (??)

Looks like people wanting extra features with syslog just replace it with syslog-ng.
Anyway, wouldn't the following syntax work ?
Code:
*.debug /etc/syslog.pipes/syslog.pipe
