ssh from solaris 9 with a bash shell of 2.0 to suse 3.2 bash shell

When I ssh from one server to another it gives me the password prompt and I enter it but then it just sits there and hangs, below is the output of the problem

Are you sure the remote user isn't setup to run only sftp-server for the user you're trying to ssh into?

Since sftp/ssh/scp use the same port the ssh would establish the connection but then wouldn't know what to do from there if it was running sftp-server as the shell on the remote side.

If you try "sftp <user>@<ubuntu server>" do you get an sftp prompt after login completes?

What is in /etc/passwd for the user on the Ubuntu server?
