[SOLVED] Solaris 6 prints multiple copies of 1 job
SOLTUION: Get a new version of Solaris for crying out loud! :-) Honestly, that was the solution in this case. Solaris 6 is just too outdated for modern print/copy/fax stations.
A Solaris 6 workstation issues the command to print a single document 1 time. Job goes to a UNIX print server, then to a networked printer nearby. The printer was switched out about a month ago, but the user hasn't made any config/environment changes to the workstation. Both the UNIX print server and printer appear to be listed correctly in /etc/printers.conf, and both resolve properly. When you submit a print job, regardless of format or size, it prints 60+ copies of it. Tried restarting the print service, rebooting the workstation, to no avail. Any ideas (aside of re-imaging an 11+ year old system)? EDIT: The print command being used: lpr -P <defaultprinter> <filename> |
UPDATE: Seems like this might actually be a server side issue. I haven't been able to discover if the print server has the proper drivers for the printer in question.
Stay tuned. |
