Solaris 10 TCP/IP stack using a single core?

We have an application which requires a huge amount of TCP connections. We're attempting to scale-up the service, but the developer is claiming that there is a limitation with Solaris 10 which is causing a bottleneck. Apparently the TCP/IP stack will only utilise one core, so buying more powerful machines wont increase the performance significantly.

My question is: Does the TCP/IP stack on Solaris 10 (for x86 if that makes a difference) only utilise one of the CPU cores? Are there any other comments?

Thanks in advance for any response.

Where do the developer get their single core (mis)information ?

Solaris 10 TCP/IP stack (a.k.a. FireEngine) is multi-threaded.

I've no idea. We generally believe it's a limitation of their application, but they're trying to shift the blame.

"FireEngine" is the keyword I was looking for. I was having trouble finding details specific to the TCP/IP stack. Thanks for your help.
