Solaris 10 NIS Setup (Using NFS and AutoFS)

Hello All,

I am new to SOlaris 10 and I am trying to configure NIS with AutoFS and NFS. But, having issues. Please help

NIS SErver:
1) I have installed packages: SUNWypu SUNWypr SUNWrot
2) #domainname sunlab
3) Created a FS and mounted on /users (mount -F ufs /dev/dsk/c1t1d0s5 /users)
4) Added users
#useradd -d /users/m1 -m m1
#useradd -d /users/m2 -m m2
#passwd m1
#passwd m2
5) vi /etc/dfs/dfstab
share -F nfs /users
6) #shareall
7) vi /etc/auto_master
/users auto_home
8) vi /etc/auto_home
* <server ip>:/users/&
9)cd /etc
#touch ethers bootparams netgroup
#ypinit -m

1) #domainname sunlab
2) vi /etc/defaultdomain
3) # cp /etc/nsswitch.nis /etc/nsswitch.conf
#vi /etc/nsswitch.conf
automount: nis files
4) vi /etc/hosts
<NIS server ip> <NIS hostname>
5) #ypinit -c
6)#cd /usr/lib/ntsvc/yp

#telnet 0
login m w1

ABOVE IT SHOWS / but it should be /users
I am very much confused.
autofs nfs rpc are running fine. I even tried to restart it.

Please help.

Thank you

I can help you with this but I will need more information - did you correctly check and edit the /var/yp/Makefile? On the client does `ypwhich` show the client bound to the server? Please on the server and the client show me the output of `svcs -a | grep nis`

If those all look good try doing `ypcat auto.home` and `ypcat auto.master` on the client and show me the output of that

O and please show the contents of /etc/nsswitch.conf on the client
