SMF log directories

Hi.

x86
Solaris 10

SMF logging...

What is the difference between the following to log directories, and how and why are there log`s in both ?

/var/svc/log/
/etc/svc/volatile/

I have the same files in both, but the log information is not the same.

/etc/svc/volatile is for "volatile logs", i.e. logs that need not persist across reboots.

This directory is actually mounted on swap like /tmp.

The other directory is for regular persisting logs.

Thanks for clearing that.
