SASL/GSSAPI? vs TLS SImple?

Hi all,

Why would someone use TLS Simple if they can use SASL/GSSAPI? Isn't it SASL/GSAPPI always better than TLS Simple? because SASL/GSAPPI works with Kerberos therefore they only do the authentication once, instead of many times like TLS?
