Resize slice for 8 to 9 Upgrade

The 15GB drive in the Blade 100 I'm working with has a 6GB slice for / (/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0) and a couple of swap slices and an 8GB slice for a thing called /space (/dev/dsk/c0t0d0s3).

/space is now almost empty and I need more space on / to do the upgrade. The upgrade fails and I'm now getting Current Size - 6291936, Minimum Suggested - 7533851 for c0t0d0s0.

I'm am very new to solaris. How can I give 2GB from /space to / ?
I can lose data on /space, but not on / .

Thanks...

Ok, doing some more research, looks like I might need to use ufsdump and ufsrestore. The slice on disk2, c0t2d0s0, has 22GB free currently. Maybe I can use ufsdump to back up / over there and then repartition disk1. Then use ufsrestore to bring / back to the larger slice.

Does that sound about right? I bet it's more complicated than that.

What is used in solaris to repartition? fdisk? That would be good for me.

Thanks...

To repartition disks under solaris use the command "format".

For cloning partitions read this: http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/805-7228/...g+disks&a=view
