Regarding # /opt/CTEact/bin/act & /opt/SUNWexplo/bin/explorer not available for x86

Hi

As I have gone through the Crash Dump Analysis for Solaris, in which it has been specified to generate crash dump info using command /opt/CTEact/bin/act & /opt/SUNWexplo/bin/explorer.

In the same ref while I have checked, for Solaris 10 on Intel Architecture I was not able to search above files/folders.

I think that it might be for Sparc only.

Please suggest.

Thanks
Rajan

I dont know for sure about the crash dump tool you speak of, but I know explorer is a separate download, it does not come with the os.

These are just plain text files. There is no specific tool required to read them.

This can be done manually as long as the setting is stored in the explorer archive.

Hi

Hi Jlliagre

Thanks for your help.

As I want to clarify one more query, that in case after taking the explorer.tar in cd suppose my server has been crashed and in that case I have installed fresh os in diff disk.

Now I want to restore all system settings in single command/tool so that all old settings will be restored [like in windows there is system restore like concept is there] from above explorer tar.

Please suggest.

Thanks
Rajan

Explorer isn't designed to do what you describe. You can manually restore some of the files but there isn't a tool available that would do it for you.

If you want to be able to restore a system, nothing replaces a full backup.
