Regarding How to install any Patch forcefully

Hi

Kindly note that as in one of my Production Server I have to install DST Patch 112874-37, while installing the same it gives error

sudo patchadd -d 112874-37

Checking installed patches...
ERROR: This patch requires patch 112233-11
which has not been applied to the system.

Patchadd is terminating.

In the same ref I would like to know how it will impact my production system if I will install 112233-1, as it seems Kernel Patch.

Please suggest on the same.

Also I would like to know is there any option to bypass the dependency check while installing patch in solaris.

Thanks
Rajan

You shouldn't apply a patch on a production server without first checking the process on a staging server.

You can't avoid dependency checks without extremely risky hacks. That wouldn't make sense anyway as the requirement is certainly there for a reason.

Kernel patches usually (always ?) require single user mode so a potential long interruption of service. Live upgrade allows to avoid most of it.
