ps --pid PID doesn't work by Solaris?

Hi,

The following command works by RedHat-Linux but bot by Solaris?
Code:
ps --pid 7174
7174 is the process id.

I got error:

Code:
ps: id is an invalid non-numeric argument for -p option

I've mentioned this before in one of your other threads: Which ps are you using, you might have to try using the one in /usr/xpg4/bin

I do believe this is mentioned in the manual page as well.

In the man of RedHat Linux I can find --pid. But not in the man of Solaris.

Now I find out by Solaris I should use 'ps -p PID'.

Hi,

yes, RHEL is based around a GNU user land Solaris is not. You need to read the documentation of the tools you are using.

Cheers,
