problem with x
Dear Member:-
after i install Unix SunOS for intel processor i my computer Xserver can't be start so i am ask for uninstall X package and download the last version or is there any GUI i shall install it kindly i am waiting for your reply |
At the beginning of the Solaris install, you should have seen a video/keyboard/mouse configuration screen. If your hardware was detected it should of shown you those items with an option for you to make any changes if needed. It then should of tested your graphics settings and if all went well you should of seen a prompt asking if the screen looked OK.
If your only getting a text login screen when your system boots, you can login as root and try to configure your graphics as discussed in this article: Video support on x86 systems http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/self_help.jsp If your system has a nvidia graphics card you can try this driver: Solaris Display Driver – x64/x86 http://www.nvidia.com/object/solaris...173.14.09.html |

Hi there:
If solaris installed successfully but you can't launch X, have you tried to log in on the console and type "kdmconfig"? You can use xsun and try (the keyword is try) to configure your video card via that little gui. Else, pick xorg but you will have to edit xorg.conf manually ( a bit harder if you are new to this). Good luck, J. |
