PROBLEM IN 'rlogin"

I have two SUN ULTRA 10 WORKSTATIONS. Now I want to do rlogin from one workstation to another. As per configuration requirement I have properly configured .rhosts & /etc/hosts.equiv files in both workstations. I am also able to ping both workstations from each other.

But when I try to execute “rlogin” from either of the workstation I got message “CONNECTION TIMED OUT”

Can you guide me what else I have to checked up step by step to resolve this problem ?

At what stage is this connection time-out message appearing ?

Is there a firewall somewhere on or between these machines ?

Are these machines properly resolving the other one IP/name ?

Is telnet or ssh working ?

1. AFTER 5 minutes the error appers
2. There is a firewall between these machines
3. Both machines are properly resolving host/IP names
4. I have tried telnet which is working ok

Check out /etc/ipf/ipf.conf if running ip filtering. Bundled in sol 10. Restart the service after that if you are running that version (or open solaris)
