"Oracle linux" ?

On Oracle's site I see references to "Oracle Linux". Are they referring to Solaris or are they talking about something different?

I mean, I've been reading up on Solaris... are they planning to phase it out now? Has anything been said?

I thought it was Red Hat repurposed to support it's database software.

Hello:

They do have an special Linux distribution called "Unbreakable linux", based on red hat.

You can check it out here

It contains specific configurations for database operations and is officially supported by them

Greetings

Oracle Linux has nothing to do with Solaris other than providing alternatives to customers. They have had it for quite some time. The have also expressed a strong commitment to Solaris. You can see their statement here http://www.oracle.com/us/sun/index.htm.

Solaris is now "Oracle Solaris" but not "Oracle Linux".

Oracle Linux does exist... it's just called "Unbreakable Linux". I just installed Oracle Service Bus (known before as BEA ESB) on this. As I said, it's based on RedHat.

As for the Solaris version, I suppose it's a rollout based on the recent acquisition of Sun from Oracle. They should be fine supporting both OS
