OPERA HAs FINALLY go into INTEL Solaris Platforms...YEPIEEE!!!!!

I AM VERY VERY VERY HAPPY!!!!!!!! AND SUPRISED......finally finally finally finallY....Opera has made its way to the Intel Solaris platform...
http://opera.com/download/index.dml?...olaris%20Intel

I will download it...But not as of yet though since it is still in beta version...Once the BETA version is all over...then I will download it. But in the mean time I would like for someone to explain on how to install after downloading it please.

Can you please explain to me once after I downloaded it on how to install it? Please??? You know I am a newbie...And Im sorry for all this. I have tons of Solaris guides but their all seem to be cluttered...Please explain in detail on what commands I ahve to do in order to get Opera working on Intel Solaris 10 please?

I AM HOWEVER COMPILING all my questions that I had asked onto a notebook folder to learn how to install the basic stuff.

thanks..

Good but not very fresh news, the Solaris for x86 development has been announced in 2001, and a beta has been available since October 2005.

Out of curiosity, what makes you so enthousiastic about it ?

Particularly, what features do you like in Opera that are missing from Mozilla Firefox ?

Well get this...and please I dont wanna start a flame war here. But there has been alot of Firefox vulnerabilities recently like every 2 weeks or every month. You know why? I know why? MORE AND MORE people are using it and its becoming more popular than Opera. Opera I think, has better TLS, SSL and so on security protocols...But the one thing I dont like about opera is that its a bit bloated and has too much everything cluttered....Firefox is easier to navigate though..So...the key is, whether its even UNIX, LINUX, Windows, if more people are using it and its more popular then of course, it will have security holes. Just look at the (I forgot the website) and too lazy right now and search....but have you looked at the Secunia or whatever reports versus Opera and Firefox recently...I think Opera has 13 and FF has about 27...advisories out there..So be on the lookout...Opera is OK. But like I said, I hate its interface and its more bloated than FF...And I dont think its really that much faster than FF then what Opera users really say.

And also, when it comes to security, its not up to the web browsers that you use. Its the OS really. So, I just dumped FF and now Im using Opera with JavaScript disabled under Windows...and thats all. And I clean my cache automatically everytime when Opera exits...

FF and Opera I think are the same [censored]....so to speak...

And if FF becomes VERY MORE and MORE popular, I'll give it some odd years that it be as just as unsafe as Internet Explorer...

But, we should really give the Mozilla Firefox team some pat on the back for being on the lookout for these exploits or vulnerabilities out there REALLY REALLY QUICKLY!!!!!....I think there doing a great job on that....

installation opera 9 beta in solaris 10 is easy and standard. it has a bug that one need to modify /usr/bin/opera for a lib path, i believe. it seemed opera forums http://my.opera.com/community/forums/ reorganized and i no longer able to find the exact post to the solution. also i do not have a solaris running in a few months.

opera not being available in solaris x86/x64 is the only reason that blocks me from trying solaris. the features attract me a lot are:
mouse gesture, very convenience to close a page
keyboard and mouse shortcut everywhere
able to save a session (a group of pages that not necessary related). last lost session auto saved
able to quickly get all pages closed (look in trash bin)
able to switch author/user mode, makes it a toy
fit to window feature
and the last, the fastest one

security is not an issue to me in opera.

i only complain that opera doesn't print well and sometimes has to switch its identity (as mozilla or IE) to entice some sites rendering ok in opera

thanks, shen

I've had a problem with opera not allowing a login to hotmail and switch firefox on my Linux box for that. But I like opera's "window tab" feature too much to quit using it. I detest having a lot of different windows open. Opera allows you to open a new page and surf that page as if it was a seperate window but is still integrated into one main window.

I think this is allowed with some of the Firefox tab related extensions.
