OpenSolaris Update Ruins Firefox 3.5.3

I have OpenSolaris 2009.06 installed. The update manager said there was an update available, so I updated. Then when I run Firefox, it gives me this message:

"The bookmarks and history system will not be functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another application. Some security software can cause this problem."

All bookmarks were gone, and I cannot click the back button.

There is something strange going on here. Usually when I install OpenSolaris 2009.06, it immediately ruins Firefox. But for some reason, this last install allowed me to use Firefox normally. Then I became root, copied the 3.5.3 files into the /usr/lib/firefox directory. Everything was fine. I loaded the extensions I wanted, imported my bookmarks. But after the OS update, Firefox is almost useless.

Googling this gives me some things to try in Windows, but those things don't work in Unix. Does anyone know what happened and how to fix it? Thanks.

T
