I want to install OpenSolaris 0906 to an external USB HDD.

I have ran the HW compatibility test, everything works out of the box, except WiFi card.

If i boot the liveCD with an external USB HDD attached, it reboots...

This does not happen with the Solaris 11 Express...

Any ideas on kernel boot parameters to circumvent this...?

Am I understanding you right? You want to install 2009.06 on a USB instead of an HDD? As opposed to putting a bootable install system on a USB so you can install from USB.

I haven't tried 2009.06, but when I booted from Live CD in Osol 11, and tried to install to an 8GB USB, it got slower and slower and slower until about 8 hours later, it finally gave up the ghost, and told me there was not enough "HDD" space. Someone else here told me that it was because Solaris wants a lot of extra disk space for upgrading. I don't have a 16GB stick to experiment with. Hope this helps even a little.
