Open Solaris x86_64

Hello colleagues;

I am insterested in learning OpenSolaris, but is there a version for AMD64 (x86_64)?? I know I can install the x86 version, but I would like to use a native version for x86_64...

I have seen it is possible to download Solaris 10 for free also, what a re the differences between Solaris 10 and OpenSolaris?

Thank you all in advance

This article explains you why the naming conventions:
There's no x86-64 release because there's no need for it.

Quote:
The x86-64 specification was designed by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), who have since renamed it AMD64. Intel has implemented it under the name Intel 64 (formerly EM64T or IA-32e) in its own x86 processors.
As far as it concerns the differences between Solaris 10, Solaris Express Community Edition and OpenSolaris, I suggest you to read FAQs on www.opensolaris.org which give you an overview. Many threads on LQ are about the same subject, too.

Bye,
Enrico
