multiuser milestone
Hi,
I am new to Solaris and while reading, I came across something called "multiuser milestone" in SMF What actually is "multiuser milestone"?? |
svc:/milestone/multi-user:default is equivalent to previous Solaris releases run level 2 while multi-user-server is the default one, equivalent to run level 3.
As you aren't familiar with Solaris, what are you familiar with ? Different OSes have different run levels definitions. |
I am from Linux world...we do have /etc/inittab which talks about different run levels in Linux.
I am a bit confused. In Solaris 10, in that case, does it represent multiuser mode ? What is the difference here between multiuser mode and full multiuser mode ? Is it something like run levels 3 and 4 in linux ? Quote:

They aren't equivalent. As far as I know, no linux distribution make a distinction between multi-user (rc2) and multi-user with network services (rc3) like Solaris does while Solaris has no specific run-level for enabling the graphic environment.
