Mozilla - Adobe Reader interface issue...

I can no longer surf to PDF files through Mozilla, and have run out of ideas on how to fix it...

I reached this point because I decided to install the latest version of Adobe Reader (8.x). In doing so, it apparently replaced the pre-existing Adobe Reader 7.x functionality in the web browser. Unfortunately, I'm unable to use 8.x due to the fact that it requires newer GTK libraries that are incompatible with JDS! So, I removed 8.x and restored my file associations. However, I'm still left with Mozilla trying to run 8.x instead of 7.x

TIA,
Brian

Just in case you haven't done this, the Adobe Reader plug-in is nppdf.so that should be in the Adobe tree in /opt (for example /opt/Adobe/Reader8/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so) or wherever it got installed on your Solaris box (and has to be the Solaris version of Adobe Reader and all that stuff).

All you normally have to do is locate nppdf.so and copy it into the plugins directory in the Mozilla tree and you're good to go (not in your local .mozilla directory, in the system-wide one).

I'm running Adobe Reader with Firefox on Solaris 8 thus with no problems, for whatever that may be worth.

Ah, thank you very much. I wasn't able to figure out the plugin structure on my own and didn't realize that the plugin still required the appropriate link in the bin directory (I thought the plugin could "stand-alone" inside the browser)... All fixed now, thanks much!
