Losing Hostname
Frequently when I reboot, I get a hostname of unknown. It really messes with all my configs and doesn't allow anyone to login except root. How can I keep the hostname from changing. The uname -S hostname gets annoying after awhile.
btw, I'm running Solaris 10 for x86. |
It looks like your machine is requesting a hostname to a dhcp server which doesn't returns any.
You can either fix the dhcp server configuration, or make sure /etc/nodename contains the hostname you want, which should be sufficient with Solaris 10. |
ok, I don't see /etc/nodename. Do I need to create it? What should it contain?
Thanks for the help |
man nodename
