Is it safe ?
I have a partition for my windows XP with a lot of important things, and I have an empty partition I could use to install solaris but I don't want to erase the other partition, I heard that some people erased their windows part without wanting it... another question, is it possible to mount the NTF partition with Solaris 10 ?

Solaris can be installed without erasing existing partitions, but if you do not have any experience in installing it, the risk exists that you wrongly tell the installer to wipe everything, so there can be only one advice, backup everything important before doing any risky operation.
Even if you are an experienced Solaris administrator, you do backups anyway.

There is no NTFS filesystem driver available for Solaris, but this could be one of the community contributions that may show up after OpenSolaris is released.
