Internet from another computer

Hello,
This is a thread to clear things up with the Computer to computer network thread. So far, I have Windows installed, and will have Solaris or a version of Linux on there soon to make this easier. Anyways, I will get the drivers and install them for my nVidia nForce2 ethernet hardware on my main computer that has internet access off of wireless. I want to use my main computer to give internet to my Sun Ultra 5. I cannot connect the Ultra 5 to the router, so I need to connect it to my main computer for internet. How should I set this up, what do I need to change/edit on the main and ultra 5 computers? Thanks.

Just set up your other computer to forward stuff - standard Network Address Translation. In Linux, set up "iptables" (Debian has an 'ipmasq' script that can do it, but that script pretty much forwards everything everywhere - which you may not want).

Aside from that, you may want to run dhcp on the machine to give your Sparc an IP address (and also tell the Sparc what IP to use for DNS). You may also run 'bind' if you just want to tell the Sparc to use that same computer as the DNS.

For the sort of thing required for a Linux system, check out the documents at tldp.org.
