Intermittent Login Problems on local console

Hi,

I am having problems logging into a local Solaris console (from time to time). I am getting a normal login prompt but when I try to enter username it just displays long strings of "^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@^@". Same happens with any other key - CTRL, F-Keys...

I am also getting a warning message "ttymon: Warning -- speed of <console> may be not supported by the system"

Login will work again for some time after rebooting the machine.

Any ideas on how to fix it or where to look at? There are sometimes other admins that login in remotely to the machine - don't know if that could have any affect to it.

Thanks

I guess your keyboard is broken.
Perhaps you have a "sticky" key that does not properly release? Careful cleaning can fix it. (Other guys recommend the dish washer )

Keyboard is working fine. After a reboot the login will work for 1-2 weeks and then same happens again. I also tried replacing with a different usb keyboard while I am getting those strings but same is happening.

Depending on what key is pressed it will show slightly different set of strings.

Try resetting the keyboard with:

Code:
kbd_mode -a
