Increasing screen resolution

I run Solaris 10 on a Dell D820 laptop that uses the Mobile Intel 945GM Express integrated graphics card (it's crappy, I know, but the laptop was given to me by my employer).

I can increase the screen resolution to 1280x800 on Windows XP and on Linux (after a little tweaking).

However, when I boot to Solaris, the highest resolution it offers is 1024x768, so the screen looks blurry.

On the Intel download page for this product, it lists drivers for Windows and Linux, but no Solaris.

Does anyone know if it's possible to upgrade or tweak the graphics driver to display 1280x800 in Solaris?

I have researched this issue via Google and haven't found anything. Thank you.

You card is apparently supported by both the Xorg Intel 810 driver and the generic VESA one.

Did you run one of the Solaris H/W check tools ?

What X server are you running, Xsun or Xorg ?

What driver did you select at installation time ?

In any case, laptop support is better with Solaris Express vs Solaris 10 so you may want to try it instead.

I think I picked "15 inch LCD".

Thanks Jlliagre.

"kdmconfig" shows the current choice, and allows to change it.

That's not a driver but an output device. A driver name would be something like Nvidia, Intel 810 or generic Vesa.

I did run the Sun Device Detection Tool and the output says that I am using the "vgatext" driver.

According to kdmconfig, my X server selection is Xorg server.

Any other suggestions? Thanks.
